Leeds United striker is barred from playing football.

After the Leeds United striker was accused of diving against Queens Park Rangers, a petition to “ban Patrick Bamford from professional football” was launched.

QPR goalkeeper Asmir Begovic was sent off in injury time for taking down Bamford as Leeds won 1-0 at Elland Road on Wednesday [4 October].

Bamford went down while through on goal, but Tim Sherwood and others called him out for collapsing without making any touch.

On Thursday [5 October], the account “QPR Fanbase” on change.org launched a petition calling for Bamford to be banned for “constantly diving and simulating fouls to attempt to get his opponents sent off.”

“The final straw was on the 4th of October when Bamford dived outside the box, causing Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to be sent off and banned for three games,” the petition continued.

“I call on the EFL to ban Patrick Bamford from playing football again, to reinforce the integrity of this league.”

Unfortunately for Bamford, the replays show that Begovic made no contact with him and will now serve a penalty.

It’s unclear why Bamford would go to ground when there was a chance to score.

Journalist Darren Witcoop has stated that Bamford should serve a punishment for his antics, but this gang of QPR supporters has gone even further.

Bamford is undoubtedly unpopular in that section of West London right now, and to be fair, the same would be true if the tables were turned and a QPR player attempted to have a Leeds player ejected.

But, as is typical in these situations, by the weekend, the incident will have been forgotten and everyone will be able to go on.

In unrelated Leeds United news, a player has become untouchable under Daniel Farke.
