A man has died following a house fire on the North Coast last night.
Emergency services were called to the home on Wallace Road at Terania Creek, near Ballina, about 8.45pm (Saturday 3 August 2024), and found the building well-alight.
Officers from NSW Rural Fire Service extinguished the fire.
Officers discovered a man’s body during a building sweep who was thought to be in his 70s. He hasn’t been formally identified yet.
Officers from the Richmond Police District set up a crime scene, which will be investigated by specialised police.
The fire’s origin and cause are still under investigation.
The police will compile a report for the coroner’s records.
