A man has died after a two vehicle collision in the Republic of Ireland, gardaí (Irish police) have said.

The crash happened on the N1 at Plaster in County Louth on 26 December at about 18:40 local time.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 80s, died from his injuries on Monday afternoon.

A man in his 60s and a boy also received treatment at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda following the collision, although their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who has dash-cam footage of the incident to contact them.

Unfortunately, a collision in Lincolnshire has resulted in the death of a Louth man.

Shortly before 3pm on New Year’s Eve, emergency personnel were dispatched to the A158 near Sausthorpe after receiving reports of an accident involving a blue Suzuki motorcycle and a silver Isuzu car.

The motorcyclist, a man from Louth in his fifties, was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of cars on the road just prior to the collision, which occurred at 2.53 p.m., are being urged to get in touch with Lincolnshire Police.
