The Red Devils made the announcement this morning in a post on their official club website.
The 18-year-old received her first professional contract with Manchester United in October after graduating from the school. Although Newell has not yet made her Manchester United senior debut, she has appeared in a few games with the first team.
At West Bromwich Albion, a team in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division, Newell began her career in the youth ranks. The player gained crucial first team playing experience in the third division with West Bromwich Albion last season while dual-registering with Manchester United. Last summer, Newell became a permanent member of Manchester United.
During her loan at Blackburn Rovers, the defender will now have more opportunities to experience the senior game. Between now and the end of the season, Newell will have her first chance to compete in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
During the current transfer window, Newell is the second young player to sign with Blackburn Rovers. Macy Settle, a teenage player from Everton, has also signed a loan deal with the Lancashire team.
