Medical Passed Oxford new signing agrees 2.5yr deal with Huddersfield Town

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Michal Helik, a defender for Huddersfield Town, has cleared his physical at Oxford United and is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The 29-year-old is now expected to join the Championship team after the U’s and the club reached a complete agreement.

On Thursday, January 16, Football Insider reported that Helik was going to the Kassam Stadium for a medical and to discuss personal matters.

After being promoted from League One last season, Oxford has made a move for the Poland international to bolster their chances of surviving in the second division.

This season, Helik has made 21 appearances for third-tier Huddersfield in all competitions, starting 18 of them.

After scoring an incredible nine goals as a centre-back the previous season, he has scored twice in the 2024–25 campaign.

The defender has been with Huddersfield since joining from Barnsley in September 2022.

Gary Rowett’s Oxford sit 17th in the second tier and are six points clear of the drop zone.

The U’s have already finalised agreements for Ole Romeny and Alex Matos this month; they play Blackburn on Saturday, January 18.

After being relegated from the Championship the previous season, Huddersfield is now ranked fourth in League One under Michael Duff.

In other news, a Championship standout is being pursued by Oxford.
