Thomas Waddingham of Brisbane Roar is reportedly being pursued by Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday ahead of the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT. German powerhouse Bayern Munich is also reportedly keeping an eye on the striker, but it is unlikely that the club will make a move for the player at this point in his career. It is believed that Brisbane Roar will receive a six-figure fee for the teenager, and a deal is expected to be finalised in the first few weeks of the January window, with both parties in advanced negotiations.
The 19-year-old made his debut for Brisbane Roar in 2023 and has scored 15 goals in 37 games across all competitions for the A-League team, with 11 of those coming in the top flight. With his 11 league goals, Waddingham is ranked second in A-League history for most goals scored before the age of 20, with only Nestory Irankunda surpassing him with 16 goals. Although Bayern Munich has been linked to the 19-year-old, they are unlikely to make a bid at this time, so Michael Carrick and Danny Röhl’s teams will be competing.
In April, Tottenham Hotspur was also said to have expressed interest in the striker; according to Football Insider, Spurs were in the lead to sign him. But. Their stated interest was never confirmed by Ange Postecoglu’s side.
