It’s no secret that Wolverhampton Wanderers made an attempt to recruit Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto by the end of the winter transfer season, as Brazilian and English media sources revealed the proposal.
It appears that there are some updated information from South America, as Goal Brasil has a new piece on the striker’s prospects.
According to the site, Wolves made an attempt to sign him by offering £2 million for a loan that would last until the end of the season, along with a £15 million buyout option.
The issue is that Corinthians would only receive 50% of the player’s sale; the remaining 50% would go to Zenit, the player’s previous team, so that didn’t persuade them.
Sevilla also submitted a bid, offering to pay €18 million for the possible purchase and €1 million for the loan, but it was also rejected.
Whether Wolves or Sevilla would return for Yuri Alberto next summer is still up in the air.
It seems unlikely that European clubs would be persuaded to pay so much for the player, as Goal reports that his staff believes Corinthians would sell their portion of the player for €12m, or 50% of the entire sum.
