New Exeter City forward became ‘fans’ favourite’

Late last month, the 24-year-old joined from Halifax, a team in the National League.

Alli is back in training but hasn’t made his debut yet due to an injury he acquired while at Halifax.

“What I don’t want to do is rush him and put him out on the pitch when he’s not 100% fit and not had that time with the players on the grass to understand his team-mates,” added Caldwell.

Alli, who played non-league football before joining the Shaymen, scored seven goals in 21 National League games this season.

He played for the Halifax team that took home the FA Trophy the previous year.

“He is fit, we just don’t want to push him out there too soon and affect his start at this football club,”

Caldwell added to BBC Radio Devon.

“He’s another one that’s going to be here for a long time and be a real fans’ favourite once he does get playing.”
