In order to bolster their midfield in January, Newcastle United has identified Andrey Santos of Chelsea as a possible target.
According to a TEAMtalk story, Sandro Tonali, a summer acquisition for Newcastle United, may be facing a lengthy ban for his participation in a betting scandal. In such scenario, the Magpies would require substitutes, and they have recognised Andrey Santos as one possibility.
Santos is presently a Chelsea loanee at Nottingham Forest. But since coming to City Ground, he has had difficulty getting consistent playing time. The highly regarded 19-year-old South American has a bright career ahead of him. To reach his full potential, he must play more frequently.
If Newcastle United is prepared to guarantee him playing time in the Premier League, a move there could be the best option. It’s clear that the loan transfer to Forest hasn’t been successful thus far. It would be fascinating to watch if Chelsea is prepared to move him to Newcastle at the conclusion of his loan from Forest so he can get some crucial first-team experience.
According to the report, Newcastle may also try to move for Scott McTominay and Kalvin Phillips. Both the English international and the 26-year-old Scottish international have had difficulty getting consistent playing time and might be valuable additions to Newcastle.
The Magpies will sincerely hope that Tonali does not receive a protracted suspension. The 23-year-old completed a large-scale financial transfer from AC Milan and has already made an impact. His absence will thus undoubtedly be a major setback for the Tyneside team.
Although Andrey Santos is a young player with ability, he is undoubtedly not as advanced as Tonali. Furthermore, Lewis Hall is currently on loan at Newcastle from the West London team, therefore it will be difficult to sign the Chelsea loanee. It is thus quite improbable that he will be able to suitably replace the 23-year-old Italian international.
In the upcoming months, it will be interesting to observe how they handle the difficult circumstance. They could try to sign Hall on a long-term basis before finishing
