Newport County striker confirm deal

The 23-year-old former QPR forward joined the Exiles in the summer after being on trial in pre-season.

Kargbo earned a deal and then featured on the opening day of League Two at Cheltenham but a lively cameo was ended by a dislocated shoulder that sidelined him for three months.

Kargbo was recalled to the matchday squad in December and came off the bench in the 2-0 defeat at leaders Walsall, then was an unused substitute in the home loss to AFC Wimbledon.

The 6ft 4ins front man will now head out for regular game time with Chippenham, who sit 16th in Conference South.

County, meanwhile, will look to add to their attacking options before the end of the transfer window.

They started with Oliver Greaves in the 3-2 defeat at Port Vale on Saturday when Kyle Hudlin, on loan from Huddersfield, came on as a substitute.

Geoffroy Bony was preferred to Luke Jephcott on the bench while striker Courtney Baker-Richardson has returned to full training after being out since late November with a calf injury.

Of the striking options, Hudlin has scored four times but hasn’t struck since November 9, Jephcott is yet to break his duck and Baker-Richardson scored a pair of penalties in August.

Greaves, who had been used primarily out wide before Vale Park, has scored three times since earning an EFL chance by impressing for Mickleover in non-league.
