One person was killed and another is in jail following a scooter and car collision in Onslow County on Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday, November 17, at approximately 3:36 p.m., a 2024 moped and a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Jacksonville resident Angela Perkins collided as both vehicles were heading east on NC 24 in Hubert. According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol officers, the Chevrolet struck the moped from behind, ejecting both riders.
One of the moped’s occupants was taken to a nearby hospital, while the other was declared dead at the site. It is currently unknown how the injured person is doing.
Three children were in the car with Perkins when the collision occurred, according to NCSHP officials. Perkins is charged with several offences, including three counts of child abuse and neglect and criminal death by automobile.

- FEL HIT/RUN/SER INJ/DEATH
- FEL HIT/RUN/SER INJ/DEATH
- DRIVING WHILE IMPAIRED
- CHILD ABUSE (NEGLECT)
- CHILD ABUSE (NEGLECT)
- CHILD ABUSE (NEGLECT)
- SPEEDING – FAILURE TO REDUCE TO AVOID ACCIDENT
- DWLR/LIMITED DRIVING PRIVILEGES
- FAIL TO SECURE PASSEN UNDER 16
- WINDOW TINTING VIOL
- DWLR/LIMITED DRIVING PRIVILEGES
- EXPIRED REGISTRATION CARD/TAG
- EXPIRED/ NO INSPECTION
Perkins received no bond for the above charges.
