Ousted- report claims Premiership clubs forced Crawford Allan to quit

Crawford Allan was fired as Head of Refereeing after Premiership clubs allegedly voted no confidence in him, according to a Daily Mail article.

An other version of Allan’s departure to pursue new opportunities at the end of the season was revealed by the SFA yesterday, but it has since surfaced.

Nearly every elite league team has expressed concerns about the inconsistent application of VAR, as comparable instances are handled differently based on the referee’s interpretation, even if the majority of match officials accept the decision made by the individual observing the screens.

In addition, long VAR inspections and a lack of explanation when goals are disallowed and penalties are given are leaving spectators in the dark.

It appears that a number of problems culminated in yesterday’s declaration, as Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail reveals:

Following a vote of no confidence from Scotland’s biggest clubs, CRAWFORD ALLAN will resign from his position as head of the country’s referees.

After four years, the former Category One official will leave Hampden “to pursue new opportunities” while the governing body reviews the position in light of the recent VAR scandals.

Senior Premiership delegates were asked for their opinions at a recent meeting, and they gave a harsh evaluation of Allan’s contribution to the introduction of VAR in Scottish football.

His position became more and more unstable when he oversaw the system’s installation in November 2022 due to a rising number of controversies.

The referees chief will remain in his position until the end of the season in the event that there isn’t a ready-made replacement, at which point the SFA will probably search outside of Scotland.

Allan’s next task is to handle Brendan Rodgers’ response to a Notice of Complaint on Thursday, March 28, in light of his remarks following Celtic’s 2-0 loss to Hearts at Tynecastle.

After receiving a red card in the match, Yang Hyun-jun had his appeal turned down and was suspended for two matches.

Rodgers faces a minimum two-match touchline punishment if his appeal against the Notice of Complaint is unsuccessful. covering matches at the Tony Macaroni Arena and Ibrox
