At 7:46 p.m., Dorset Police received a complaint of an accident involving a silver Audi TT Quattro, a grey BMW 218I, and a pedestrian on the A350 Main Road close to the village of Compton Abbas.

Sadly, after emergency personnel arrived, the man, a pedestrian in his 60s from Warminster, Wiltshire, was confirmed dead at the spot. His family has been notified.

A man in his 20s who was riding in the Audi was brought to the hospital to receive treatment for injuries that weren’t thought to be significant.

A 19-year-old Shaftesbury resident and a man in his 20s from Mere, Wiltshire, have been taken into custody on suspicion of driving offences after enquiries.

Road closures were implemented while emergency personnel arrived to the area and are still in place while the collision scene is investigated.

Police in North Dorset are urging witnesses or anybody with relevant dashcam evidence to come forward as they investigate a tragic traffic collision.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who very sadly died in this collision,” stated Roads Policing Team Sergeant Mike Burt.

“We are doing a thorough investigation to determine the facts behind the collision, and I kindly ask that anyone who witnessed the incident or has access to pertinent dashcam evidence get in touch with us.

Additionally, I want to express my gratitude to the public for their understanding and tolerance during the road closures. These are a must in order to enable a comprehensive investigation of the collision scene.
