Pensioner found dead in Glasgow on New Year’s Eve as police probe sudden death’

A man has been found dead in Glasgow on New Year’s Eve with police launching an investigation into the death.

Emergency crews raced to the incident on Auchinlea Road near Easterhouse Sports Centre after receiving reports of a sudden death at 8.30am. Officers attended and a 73-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. Meanwhile, a large cordon remains in place with a large section of the road taped off by police.

“Around 8.30am on Sunday, 31 December, 2023, we were called to the sudden death of a 73-year-old man in the Auchinlea Road area of Glasgow,” a Police Scotland spokesperson informed our sister publication, Glasgow Live.

“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
