Preston North End reportedly hijack Watford deal

Next week, Preston North End will try to bolster Paul Heckingbottom’s team.

The 47-year-old’s hiring was made public by the Lilywhites on Tuesday, and he is eager to get things done before the transfer window closes on August 30. Any other Deepdale signings, though, are only anticipated to begin next week, as all attention is currently focused on Saturday’s game against Luton Town. Heckingbottom’s first match as manager is against the demoted Hatters, where North End plays.
It’s known that a few deals are being worked on in the background. This summer, Preston has added four players to the roster: Sam Greenwood, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, and international recruits Stefan Thordarson and Jeppe Okkels. Alan Browne, Liam Millar, Greg Cunningham, and Ben from the previous season

Preston have been looking at centre-back targets throughout the window, but it’s a striker who North End are now being linked with. And, it did not take long for speculation around a former Sheffield United man to emerge. According to reports on Thursday evening, PNE are trying to hijack Watford’s loan agreement for front man Daniel Jebbison.

This summer, the 21-year-old’s deal at Bramall Lane expired, and he successfully transferred to AFC Bournemouth for £1.5 million. Jebbison will soon be loaned to the Cherries, though, as they don’t have many forward options. Watford reportedly prevailed in the hunt for him this week, despite interest from Stoke City, Sunderland, and other Championship teams.

It appears that Preston is already on the table, albeit that will only happen after Sunday’s match against Newcastle United. Despite being born in Canada, Jebbison played youth international football for England after attending the Blades program. During Sheffield United’s 2022–2023 promotion season, he scored two goals while on loan at Chorley and Burton Albion.
