Restaurant manager report; Birmingham City fans ‘attacked’ Norwich City supporters at his restaurant

Birmingham City fans reportedly attacked people inside a Norwich restaurant on Saturday following the club’s 2-0 defeat to the Canaries (September 30).

The manager of the Gem of Norwich – a Turkish restaurant opposite Norwich train station – has said Blues fans attacked the restaurant and assaulted Norwich fans inside at around 5.30pm following the match at Carrow Road.

James Grundy has told the Easten Daily Press that four buses full of away supporters pulled up by traffic lights next to the restaurant and began to make rude gestures. He says after getting off the bus, the Birmingham fans “suddenly rushed over and were dragging people around, hitting them, smashing up the bar and people’s glasses.”

One diner who was wearing a Norwich scarf was reportedly ‘dragged outside and punched’. Mr Grundy told the newspaper: “There were children around and it completely ruined the evening, a lot of people were very scared.”
