Fulham will again demand a fee of between £50-60million for midfield star Joao Palhinha in January, sources have told Football Insider
This is true even though the 28-year-old Portugal international signed a new five-year contract at Craven Cottage in September.
His new contract, nevertheless, hasn’t deterred prospective suitors like Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
Late in the summer transfer window, Bayern came dangerously close to agreeing to a deal for between £50 and £60 million, but Fulham withdrew because they couldn’t find a replacement.
On Monday, December 18, Football Insider disclosed that Palhinha is currently not a “top priority” for Jurgen Klopp and his Reds recruiting team.
After their massive summer midfield makeover, the Merseysiders have decided they are unlikely to intensify their interest in Palhinha next month.
Football Insider (15 December) has also been informed by sources that Bayern is looking to acquire a center-back in the new year, but they are still open to moving for the midfield player in January.
Football Insider reported on Sunday, December 17, that while Arsenal is interested in a 2024 move for Fulham star Palhinha, Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa is the team’s top target.
This season, the Portugal international has made 14 Premier League appearances, recording two goals and one assist.
Palhinha signed a contract with Fulham in 2022 for a reported fee of just £20 million, and the Cottagers will likely profit handsomely from the midfield player in the years to come.
The next game the Cottagers play is on Saturday, December 23, against Burnley.
In other news, Fulham plans to bid in January for a striker from Ligue 1.
