Salford Red Devils agreed latest Leigh Leopards signing

After placing fourth in the Super League standings and falling to the Leigh Leopards in the playoffs, the Salford Red Devils had yet another good season in 2024.

They will be trying to join the select few clubs that can contend for trophies in 2025 after playing at the end of the season on a regular basis in previous years.

In Paul Rowley’s final season as head coach, how has their hiring process gone?

He was the only confirmed signing till recently and is likely their finest 2025 acquisition.

The former Huddersfield Giants player has experience playing in the Super League, at the highest level of the NRL, and internationally. This year, he was even nominated for the IRL Golden Boot award.

Given that Tim Lafai and Nene Macdonald were already a great combination in the position last season, the addition adds a lot of interest to the centres. Nene Macdonald might be moved to the wing position as a result.

Perhaps best described as a shrewd signing, hooker Sam Davis was never going to stay with London Broncos after their relegation, but he has a full season as a starting hooker in Super League under his belt.

He will therefore be a good backup to Joe Mellor and appears to have been a wise acquisition following the loss of Amir Bourouh to Hull FC.

Chris Hill

For the upcoming year, there are many excellent choices in the front row.

With an incredible 500 games played for Leigh, Warrington Wolves, and Huddersfield Giants, Hill brings a wealth of experience to the table.

In addition, England and Great Britain have played 41 games.

Consequently, he ought to play a significant role in a leadership team that also includes captain Kallum Watkins, with whom he has played frequently while on international duty.

Joe Bullock

Their second most recent signing, Bullock may well be the man that pips Chris Hill to a starting spot, alongside Loghan Lewis.

He already knows the club after his eight games on loan at the back-end of 2024, and looks to be a really smart signing, with the club maybe making the most of the fact that Warrington have a stacked pack even without him.

All 6 foot 5 of him will be a great addition to the 2025 side at Salford Red Devils.

Justin Sangare

Sangare was announced as the Red Devils fifth signing ahead of the 2025 season and his arrival makes it clear exactly what area Paul Rowley is looking to strengthen. He is the third prop in just five signings and arrives following his Leeds Rhinos exit.

During his two seasons at Headingley, Sangare played plenty as he picked up 42 appearances but never truly nailed down the starting spot and made himself undroppable. He now looks set to be part of a committee of props at Salford given the club’s investment in the position, something that could suit the big Frenchman.
