Other emergency services, including the air ambulance, were dispatched to the area.
Following a collision, the Dartford Crossing was closed to traffic this evening (Wednesday), leaving two lanes restricted. The incident happened between J2 A2 (Darenth Interchange) and J1B A296 Princes Road (Dartford).
Drivers experienced lengthy delays as a result of the closure of the anticlockwise carriageway. The route to J30 (Lakeside/Tilbury) was congested, and the return trip to J3 (M20 Swanley interchange) was counterclockwise.
The shutdown began at 2:00 p.m. The other road has been reopened after being shut to make room for the air ambulance to land.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix said at 9pm: “Severe delays and two lanes closed due to accident investigation work on M25 clockwise from J1B A296 Princes Road (Dartford) to J2 A2 (Darenth Interchange). Congestion to J29 (Romford).
“The A2 and A13 are also heavy in both directions on approach to the M25, with congestion through Dartford and Greenhithe as traffic diverts. There are also long queues around Purfleet and Lakeside.”
The closures across two lanes are still in effect, and that concludes our nightly coverage. The most recent updates will be available from our morning crew.

After the investigation was finished, the road reopened, although two lanes are still blocked for repairs. Sources include police, social media, INRIX speed sensors, highways, and CCTV images.
The slip roads serve as a diversion.
