Sheffield Wednesday Hijack Leads United And West Brom Target

Sheffield Wednesday’s need in this month’s transfer window is clear; a new striker.

The club needs more talent up top, as Danny Rohl has already stated, but only Birmingham City striker Scott Hogan has been mentioned

Currently carrying a lot of weight on his young shoulders, Bailey Cadamarteri is performing well, having scored three goals in 11 Championship games.

However, the Owls cannot rely solely on the 18-year-old.

Moore, 31, is currently a player for Bournemouth, but he is having difficulty getting into the game; so far this season, he has made just seven appearances in the Premier League and scored one goal.

Nonetheless, Moore is a well-known figure in the Championship; the 39-cap Welsh international has scored 47 goals in 155 games overall, split between stints at Barnsley, Cardiff City, and Bournemouth. When Moore was at Cardiff, former manager Mick McCarthy called him a “amazing” striker.

According to recent reports, Bournemouth is willing to let Moore go this month, and teams interested include Leeds United and West Brom.

Sheffield Wednesday obviously needs strikers, so it makes sense to enter the race for Moore.

, it might also beHowever a very sensible move.

Moore might have a much harder time getting game time at a team with as much attacking talent and firepower as Leeds, but at Hillsborough, where Cadamarteri is essentially Rohl’s only real decent option, Moore should have more access to game time.

Players of Moore’s calibre may be more likely to sign with the team for the second half of the season because Rohl is doing a great job at Wednesday and the team is a far more appealing destination for players than it was in the summer.

Furthermore, Moore appears to be making £15,000 per week, which makes him a good choice considering earlier in the season reports that Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri was prepared to pay £30,000 per week to sign a loan striker this month.

A new striker appears to be Sheffield Wednesday’s top priority at the moment, as an injury to Cadamarteri would seriously deplete the Owls’ attacking options. The team needs additions all over the pitch.

Moore is a highly qualified and experienced candidate who seems eager to move forward and who seems to be within Wednesday’s financial reach.

Thus, even though a move is still ambitious, it appears to have promise.
