Latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive includes a warning from Sheffield Wednesday defender Bambo Diaby
Before their matchup with Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday defender Bambo Diaby has sent a warning to the Championship, saying, “My team is not dead.”
With six points from 16 games, the Owls are at the bottom of the Championship and nine points out of safety already. Eight of Diaby’s team’s past nine games have ended in goals, and their most recent encounter ended in a 4-0 loss against Millwall.
On paper, Wednesday’s opponents seem ideal for the Blues, who are still waiting for their breakthrough under new boss Wayne Rooney. Since John Eustace was replaced by the former captain of Manchester United and England, Blues have only managed one point from five games.
Even though Wednesday’s figures are troubling, Diaby was optimistic before their trip to St Andrew’s. “The season is not done,” stated the Senegalese full-back. We’re not in the clear. People believe my team is no longer together. My group is still active.
“We are here, we are fighting and this is only the beginning. We start to grow and I trust in my team. To be honest it has been a difficult start, that’s no secret. We are working to make sure our game changes. I am an optimist and we are growing, step-by-step we will show that on the pitch.
“If my life has shown me something it is to never give up, it doesn’t matter about the situation. I just keep working and I want to show it’s on me, it’s on our team. We know it’s difficult, everybody knows that, but we can do it. Mathematically, we are not down. Everything is possible.
“No one is hunched over. We’re staying upbeat and anticipating the next game, considering what we can improve upon and what lessons we can use from the last one. Right now, this is what we are doing.
