Mike Williams, a wide receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers, may soon join a new team, but it will be a familiar one. After the Steelers hardly employed him, Williams, who is scheduled to become a free agency after the team dealt a fifth-round pick for him to the New York Jets at the trade deadline, is probably going to find a new team.
According to Daniel Popper of the Athletic, Williams might rejoin the Chargers in Los Angeles for a reunion that would be beneficial to both parties.
“They might search the draft for the outside ball-winner. However, Williams is one receiver that would not be extremely expensive and possesses that particular skill set. Additionally, given their four seasons together, he and quarterback Justin Herbert have a natural rapport. If Higgins doesn’t become a free agent or if Harbaugh and Hortiz can’t afford his price, I think the Williams reunion makes a lot of sense,” Popper said.

Williams never really looked like the player he was before he tore his ACL while playing for the Chargers in 2023. However, Williams was able to make incredible plays on the sideline when jump balls were given to him.
That is his superpower, and he can cover that gap if any team wishes to hire him for those abilities. Williams’ fit with the Chargers could be crucial for his market because the Steelers bought him for that reason alone, but they’ll probably let him walk and go for another veteran available.
