Sons of Duke Basketball Champ Fall in Front of Jon Scheyer

Duke basketball legends Jon Scheyer and Carlos Boozer were both on hand for the coveted Boozer twins’ game.

Five-star 2025 prospects Cayden and Cameron Boozer witnessed the Blue Devils fall to Arizona in Cameron Indoor Stadium during their official visit to Duke basketball in early November. The twins from Columbus High School (Fla.) saw Duke lose on the road to Miami last season.

And on Thursday night, during Columbus’ 68-61 loss to prep powerhouse Link Academy (Mo.) in their quarterfinal match, second-year Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer was seated courtside at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Boozer brothers stood out in spite of the defeat.

With 13 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and one steal, 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward Cameron Boozer—who is ranked second overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite—finished the game. Cayden Boozer, a cunning guard ranked No. 14 in the class at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, scored a game-high 22 points and dished out seven assists.

If Carlos Boozer’s sons, who were sitting a few seats away from Scheyer on Thursday night and a 2001 Blue Devil national champion, decided to play for Duke, maybe Scheyer and the Boozers would have better luck in the win column. Or perhaps not.

In any case, Scheyer and his group are still legitimate candidates for the acclaimed brothers.

Since May 2022, they have had offers from the Blue Devils. Their visits to Duke, Kentucky, Florida, and Miami thus far have suggested early favourites, even though neither has declared favourites or given a deadline for a decision.
