Jewison Bennette could be in the move this January as he looks to gain first team experience.
Sunderland youngster Jewison Bennette wants to leave the club on loan in January, according to reports.
Bennette has not featured much in the first team this season, though latterly he has been sidelined first by a virus and then by a minor ankle knock. The winger is expected to be fully fit very shortly but is facing significant competition for places.
But according to Kevin Jiminez, a journalist from Costa Rica who first broke the Bennette to Sunderland story in the summer of 2022, the player has grown dissatisfied with the team and plans to look for a new home in January.
“Jewison Bennette is not playing for Sunderland due to differences on the part of the board,” he stated. “The player feels that he isn’t receiving respect, according to sources. In January, the player would go out on loan.”
Mike Dodds, Sunderland’s assistant head coach, recently suggested that the best short-term solution might be a loan starting next month. Although Dodds asserts that selecting the appropriate team is just as crucial, Sunderland would prefer Bennette to remain in the UK while he picks up the language.
“Any of those young players who aren’t playing as much as we’d like, I think it [a loan] needs to be discussed because we have invested in them and we see them as a long-term project,” Dodds stated. One way to fix the minutes they require is through loans. Finding the appropriate loan for each player—Jew or otherwise—and their needs is the problem, not the loan itself.
“The question about Jewi will be more about what kind of loan we can get him that will be best for his development than whether or not he needs one. We understand that playing minutes is the best way for any young player, Jewi included, to develop, and we keep that in mind. Respectfully, we won’t put Jewi on a team that is going to annihilate the competition.
“When it comes to finding a place to play Jewi that plays in a similar style to Sunderland, we need to be extremely picky so that he can practise the things that we want him to practise and that we want
In the Championship, the Back Cats play Coventry City at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, but it’s unlikely that Bennette will be involved in any way.
We would like to thank you just as before for the lovely ideas you
gave Janet when preparing a post-graduate research and, most importantly, with regard to
providing many of the ideas in a single blog post. Provided we had known of your site a year
ago, we might have been rescued from the nonessential
measures we were implementing. Thank you very much.
