The 20-year-old left for trials with Dynamo Kyiv, a top-tier Ukrainian team, this week with the intention of relocating overseas this month, according to SABC Sport.
According to Sanoka, Okon is prepared to quit the PSL.
“Even two hours before I arrived here, I spoke with him, and all I told him was that the only way he could succeed in life was to work hard and maintain his humility. I had the honor of working with him, therefore I am aware of his abilities,” Sanoka stated.
“So, for me, I think he will make a great defender and yeah, hopefully, one day he’ll remind me of what I used to tell him because every time I play with him at training I kept on reminding him how good he was, how good he is, which things he must improve at and what he must focus a lot on. I think he will become one of the best defenders we’ve ever seen.
Due to his parents’ origins, the young center back is still qualified to play for Nigeria or Bafana Bafana.
Sanoka expresses his intense desire to watch Okon play for South Africa.
He continued, “I believe we have been fighting for that because I used to ask him the same question and he told me that he would try to get the cap for South Africa because he told me that it is a little difficult for him to play for a PSL team and just get in there, but he is willing to take advantage of any opportunity that comes up.”
Therefore, it is possible that he hopes to wear the national team uniform in the future.
