Swindon Town confirm deal

Doncaster Rovers, Newport County and Shrewsbury Town-linked Jai Rowe has returned to Boston United following his Swindon Town trial, as announced by their official X account.

Numerous Football League teams are rumoured to have expressed interest in the non-league player this summer. He has now returned to Boston United, though, for the 2024–2025 campaign.
According to writer Pete O’Rourke on X, Rowe, 22, has been observed by Newport County and Doncaster Rovers. The same source added that Dundee United of the Scottish Premiership and Shrewsbury Town were also fans.

In addition to winning Player of the Year, Rowe assisted the Pilgrims in their promotion from the National League North to the National League in the previous season.

The Nuneaton-born man saw his previous Boston United contract expire at the end of June and will have been weighing up his options.

Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Hurst cooled his side’s links to him and said on BBC Sport Shropshire: “He was at Scunthorpe in an Under-21’s group that the club were trying to sort out experiment with there. I know the player, you will hear me say this a lot to you, don’t believe everything you read or hear. Whether it is a lazy link, whether it is an agent doing his job.”

Before moving to Glanford Park to join Scunthorpe United, Rowe had stints with Nuneaton Borough and Barwell in the beginning of his career.

Before the Iron were demoted to the fifth division in 2022, he played 92 games for them in the Football League as a young player.

Rowe returned to Scunthorpe for the first half of the previous season before finishing at Aldershot Town.
He was then signed by Boston United in the summer, and the Pilgrims have benefited greatly from having him.

During the previous season, he participated in 34 games across all competitions, contributing five goals and one assist.
