The reason why i decided to brought Bobby Wales off the bench to rescue Dundee

Report on the 1-1 draw between Kilmarnock and Dundee at Rugby Park; Lyall Cameron gave the visitors the lead in the first half, and Bobby Wales equalised after coming off the bench. Killie is still in 10th place, while Dundee is in 7th.

Substitute Bobby Wales scored a stunning late equaliser as Kilmarnock drew 1-1 with Dundee in an intriguing encounter at Rugby Park.

Lyall Cameron’s calm finish appeared to have condemned the home team to their fourth consecutive loss following a goalless first half.

But young striker Wales fired into the top corner from Kyle Vassell’s cut-back to level the scores with 10 minutes to go.

Danny Armstrong and Marley Watkins came close, but they had to settle for a point, while Killie appeared to have the best chance of winning.

Josh Mulligan drove to the byline and picked up Jordan McGhee, who caused Robby McCrorie to make a deft save at his near post to give Dundee the first chance in the fifth minute.

The visitors had gotten off to a fast start, and in the ninth minute, the raging Mulligan advanced once again and drove the ball across, but Simon Murray somehow missed it.

Moments later, the attacker did manage to get in with a strong near-post attempt, but McCrorie was equal to it and palmed it away.

Killie persevered and eventually became proficient in the game. Watkins’ left-footed cross found Bruce Anderson in space in the 28th minute, giving them their first chance, but the striker was unable to get his header on target.

Fraser Murray’s free-kick was directly at McCracken, and Vassell’s attempt was deflected over as the first half ended goalless, giving the home team a slight advantage.

Watkins cut inside and missed the far post with a shot just inches from Kilmarnock at the beginning of the second half.

Just before the hour, Mackay-Steven stung McCracken’s palms with a strong strike from the area’s edge, putting McInnes’ team far ahead.

After 69 minutes, Fraser Murray’s accurate centre picked out Mackay-Steven, who had a better chance but was only able to shoot over from 12 yards out.

Dundee scored against the flow of play two minutes later, and the hosts were forced to pay for a missed golden opportunity.

Cameron displayed incredible poise by side-footing high into the net’s roof after substitute Oluwaseun Adewumi jinked his way to the byline and his deflected cut-back landed at his feet.

The lead was short-lived, though, as Wales equalised the score with a stroke into the top corner with essentially his first touch since entering the game two minutes earlier after Vassell’s cut-back.

Killie charged forward in search of a winner, and they should have done it in the 85th minute when Armstrong scuffed the rebound agonisingly wide after Watkins was denied by McCracken when clear through.

Referee Ross Hardie turned away Kilmarnock’s protestations that they should have been awarded an injury-time penalty after Innes Cameron clashed with Dundee defender Billy Koumetio.

Wales had a goal, but McCracken hurried out to save his dinked attempt as a wild game ended in a stalemate. There was still time for more late drama.
