Two suspects arrested after gun blasted at house in ‘targeted’ shooting in Bolton’

Patrols have been stepped up after the shots were fired in the early hours of the morning yesterday

Two men have been arrested after gunshots were blasted at a house in Bolton.

Police descended on Yewdale Gardens in Breightmet after reports of a shooting just after midnight yesterday (Tuesday, February 27). Terrified neighbours reported seeing a man being ‘chased’ down their street before a ‘masked’ gunman opened fire.

Then, according to reports, armed police arrived on the scene as a manhunt was initiated. “He fired the gun twice at the door then rode off,” a resident said. “I detected two loud fringe. It was horrible.
There were no reported injuries from the gunshot. Two individuals have been taken into custody in relation to the incident, according to a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson’s statement from this morning (February 28).

Two men, ages 37 and 43, were taken into custody during the night on Tuesday and into Wednesday on charges of causing a violent disturbance and violating section 16A of the Firearms Act. Both are still being held so that detectives can question them.

According to the police, the shooting was probably “targeted.” While the inquiry is ongoing, there are “no wider risks to the community,” but patrols have been increased.
Yesterday, Yewdale Gardens was cordoned off as officers from the Tactical Aid Unit conducted investigations inside the perimeter. Following the incident, someone saw a helicopter buzzing overhead.
The neighbours expressed their dismay at what had happened to their doorsteps. After hearing the gunshots, one person remarked, “In our eight years here, nothing similar has ever happened.” Family friendly, that is.”

Another person claimed, “I heard the bang but thought it was firecrackers.” It’s startling. This nation is just becoming worse, isn’t that right?

A GMP spokesman issued the following statement: “Overnight, two men, ages 37 and 43, were taken into custody on suspicion of violent disturbance and violating section 16A of the Firearms Act. They are still being held by the police.
According to officers, there were no broader hazards to the community and this was a targeted attack. Officers are still investigating, and more resources will be patrolling the neighbourhood.”
