Unknown if Jimmy Garoppolo will play against Detroit on Monday due to an injury
Coach Josh McDaniels stated on Monday morning that the Las Vegas Raiders are still unsure if starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will b e fit to play against the Detroit Lions on Monday night.
During his news conference, McDaniels stated that while he “hopes” Garoppolo will be fit to play against the Lions, there has been no “clarification yet.”
Garoppolo is anticipated to be able to play against the Lions, according to an ESPN report from the weekend. His back issue prevented him from playing in the second half of the Raiders’ 21-17 Week 6 victory at home against the New England Patriots, which he missed on Sunday in the team’s 30-12 loss to the Chicago Bears. In Chicago, Garoppolo was not participating.
With an extra day of preparation, Garoppolo’s chances of playing against the Lions are increased. If he does not play, Aidan O’Connell, a rookie, will probably play against the Lions. Backup quarterback Brian Hoyer has lost 13 consecutive starts since 2016, and he was awful while with the Bears.
Hoyer was replaced late against Chicago by O’Connell, who had played for Garoppolo in a Week 4 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers.
