West Ham now want to sign Chelsea’s 24-yo as well

West Ham United could make a move to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in the January transfer window.

Trevoh Chalobah is firmly on the West Ham radar in the January transfer window, and we’ve apparently been chasing him since the summer.

With Kurt Zouma suffering from injuries all the time, Angelo Ogbonna nearing the end of his playing days, and Nayef Aguerd away at the AFCON, Hammers manager David Moyes is searching for a new center-back.

Moyes is rumoured to be targeting Conor Gallagher, another Blues player, in addition to possible raids on Chelsea for Chalobah.

Chalobah, 24, has been sidelined since August due to a complex hamstring ailment; nevertheless, he has just resumed full fitness (Evening Standard).

And now West Ham could try to prise him away from Stamford Bridge…

Trevoh Chalobah is the Hammers’ top winter transfer target, according to talkSPORT.

The 24-year-old, in my opinion, could be a great asset to Moyes’s team at the London Stadium. It seems that he can be had for about £25 million (Daily Mail).

He is strong in the air, quick on the ground, and—most importantly for David Moyes—has Premier League football experience! In 25 Premier League appearances for Chelsea last season, the centre-back averaged 1.2 tackles, one interception and 2.2 clearances per game (Who Scored).

The Chelsea star is capable of playing both central defence and defensive midfield, therefore in my opinion, paying £25 million for him would be an incredible deal.

But there’s no denying that his persistent hamstring issue is a serious problem. When we sign players who are prone to injuries, we have been burned far too often in the past—just take a look at guys like Andy Carroll, Jack Wilshere, and Gianluca Scamacca, to mention a few.

And whether the West Ham owners will be prepared to take a punt on Chalobah in the January transfer window remains to be seen. I reckon that Moyes may well look for a more physically robust central defender instead of the Chelsea man.
