The third-year Blue Devil head coach is impressed by the competitiveness and instincts of the four 2025 Duke basketball signees.
The haul will be Jon Scheyer’s third top-ranked group in his four cycles as head coach if the Duke basketball staff continues to hold its top spot on the 2025 recruiting trail. The four-deep 2023 class came to Durham ranked No. 2 overall, making it the only Blue Devil class of the Scheyer era to not rank No. 1.
During this month’s early signing period, the Blue Devils have already secured scholarship agreements with all four of its 2025 prizes. Bellaire High School (Texas) five-star forward Shelton Henderson, Harvard-Westlake School (Calif.) composite five-star forward Nikolas Khamenia, and Columbus High School (Fla.) five-star twins Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer, sons of Duke basketball legend Carlos Boozer.
Regarding the quartet of potential Blue Devils, Scheyer, who has contributed to creating a top-three class in each of his 12 recruiting cycles on the Duke basketball staff, stated the following:
“Well, we’re excited to have each of these individuals here, individually. However, what excites me the most is the composition of the class. We really look for two things in this class, and our program will continue to do so.
However, competitiveness comes first. Additionally, the adjective “competitiveness” is associated with all four of those men when you think about Shelton Henderson, Cayden Boozer, Nik Khamenia, and Cam Boozer. And that was crucial to our strategy for developing the program and advancing this endeavour by attracting elite competitors.
“For us, feel, or basketball instincts, came in second. Additionally, some of our most exceptional teams have been created by combining their competitiveness, IQ, and sense of the game. Additionally, it provides us with an amazing core.
“And in my opinion, there are no superior rivals and no better players we can bring in, in the country, than these four guys right here.”
