Wimbledon boss questions side’s lack of cutting edge in loss to Walsall

After their 1-0 loss to Walsall this afternoon, Ohnnie Jackson feels his team needs to be “more ruthless” to convert strong performances into victories against elite opposition.
The goal from Nathan Lowe put the Dons behind the opposition in a hotly contested game against the League Two promotion contenders at Plough Lane.
When Omar Bugiel, a striker, was shoved over in the box during the first half, the home crowd erupted, but the referee waved aside the spot-kick appeals.

A form Early in the second half, Lowe gave the visitors the lead in the 52nd minute by tapping a low cross from David Okagbue into the net from close range.
For the remainder of the half, Wimbledon applied further pressure by swinging a crossn after entering the danger zone, but before the final whistle blew, he was unable to make a strong connection with any of them.

“There’s nothing in that game really, and the conditions are difficult today,” Jackson remarked. “They created the moment and we didn’t, but it was really close and hard fought.”We turned off in both boxes since we weren’t severe enough.
“We are losing games where we should at least win something, and I keep saying that when we lose close games to strong opponents. It should most likely be a draw today.

Against the Saddlers, Jackson specifically criticised his team for their inability to score goals despite their high frequency of crosses and set-piece deliveries.
Jackson stated, “We have big enough guys there that should be getting their head on something, and we are getting good deliveries. I expect more.”
“We put in a lot of effort on it, and it’s not paying off right now, but we must have faith that it will.

“You always get a chance in football to put it right and we get one in three days, which is good on the back of a defeat.
“I say to the players that if you’re in the team and you’ve got the shirt, don’t give it back to me, if you’re doing the business you stay in.
“If the players aren’t going to be more ruthless, then I have got to be more ruthless in my team selection.”
