Wakefield Trinity confirmed last week that they had signed the centre / second-rower for the 2025 season, making him their fourth Super League recruit ahead of their anticipated return to the competition.
He will join the club alongside Catalans and England duo Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken, as well as Huddersfield Giants’ playmaker Olly Russell, albeit Scott on a two-year deal relative to the four-year deals handed to the other three.
Simon Grix has now claimed that Scott may have played his final game for Hull FC because it is unlikely that the 24-year-old would make a full recovery from his hamstring injury in the final three months of the campaign.
The club’s acting coach disclosed that to BBC Humberside when he gave a preview of this weekend’s match between Hull FC and Salford Red Devils.
Speaking specifically on Scott, the Hull FC boss Grix told BBC Humberside: “Cam has got a significant hamstring tear and it’s going to be the long end of the scale in terms of recovery.
“Unfortunately, as everyone is already aware, Cam will be leaving the team at the end of the year. It may not have been the most fitting manner for him to conclude his FC career.
“With three months remaining, I believe he will be pushing it, but we’ll get around him and he’ll finish his rehab. If there’s a chance to play, then it would be great to have him back there toward the end of the year.”
When asked whether it was anticipated that Scott had played his final game for the team, Grix replied, “Maybe, yeah.”
Recently, Scott, 24, defended his choice to quit Wakefield Trinity and took aim at supporters who had been speculating about his salary on social media.
Additionally, Jed Cartwright, one of Hull FC’s own recruits, was anticipated to miss a “few weeks” due to a foot injury he sustained during last weekend’s Reserves 60-4 rout of Leigh Leopards.
Grix clarified, saying, “Jed stayed behind and trained with reserves, which was beneficial. He shown his willingness to enter and contribute. He and we both thought he was doing well to get some minutes with the reserves when he felt his foot pop a little.
That happened after the game had been going for approximately 30 minutes. To be fair, he was playing the game fairly well and, I believe, clearing some cobwebs. We will so be without him for a few weeks at this time.

According to Hull FC’s acting head coach Simon Grix, Cam Scott, who is bound for Wakefield Trinity, has suffered an injury to the point where it’s likely that this is his final game for the team.
Ahead of their anticipated return to the league, Wakefield Trinity announced last week that they have signed the center/second-rower for the 2025 season, making him their fourth Super League acquisition.
Along with playmaker Olly Russell of the Huddersfield Giants and Catalans and England’s Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken, Scott will join the team on a two-year contract, while the other three will sign four-year contracts.
“Jack will be here in about eight weeks, maybe. That comes as a little blow to us.
Sao, however, has better news: he might play this Saturday against an injured Salford team.
“I believe he tore a ligament in his ankle, not a major ankle stabilizer. Thus, I believe he will be alright. All you have to do is manage him over the week and exercise caution with him.”
