The ups and downs of Warrington Wolves in 2024

There appears to be a growing body of evidence to support that theory, with Sunday’s thrashing of London Broncos perhaps the clearest example.

The Wire scored three times in the opening 12 minutes to establish a lead the Broncos were never likely to overhaul, while they unleashed a similar purple patch at the start of the second half.

That got us thinking about periods of games that have been the most profitable for Warrington in the opening weeks, so here’s what we found when we broke down the times in which the team have been scoring and conceding tries…

They have, however, perhaps shown their best form in the last 20 minutes of games; eight of their 27 tries have occurred in this time frame.

In comparison, they have only let up one try in the latter quarter of their games thus far, which came from Hull KR’s Tom Opacic in the 61st minute in Round Four.

Improvements to be made either side of half time?

This season, Warrington has not surrendered in the first twenty minutes following halftime in all of their games save for the one noted above with the Broncos.

Eight of the eleven tries they have allowed to pass have occurred in the periods immediately before and after the break, four in each of the 21st to 40th and 41st to 60th minutes.

They have, however, scored six tries apiece in those two phases.
