Man jailed following Warrington drugs raid update

A man who was arrested following a drugs warrant in Warrington has now been jailed.

Ben Whitelock-Wainwright appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on  where he was sentenced to four years in prison.

The court heard how officers from Warrington Beat Management Team executed a warrant at an address on Alder Lane at around 11.55am on Tuesday 13 February.

Three people were arrested at the address including Whitelock-Wainwright, who informed officers that there were drugs at the address in a wardrobe and on his bedside table.

The 49-year-old, of Alder Lane, was arrested and during a search if the property officers recovered approximately £6775 in cash and a large quantity of heroin, with an estimated value of around between £11,300 and £13,160.

Whitelock-Wainwright was charged with possession of criminal property and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, specifically heroin, after the investigation was turned over to the Warrington Proactive Policing Team. On Thursday, February 14, he entered a guilty plea to the charges at Liverpool Crown Court.

Robert Catterall, a detective constable, stated the following after the sentence:

“Illegal substances can have a terrible effect on the community surrounding drug users as well as on drug users themselves.

In addition to making Warrington a safer place to visit and live, we are doing all in our power to put an end to drug activities on the streets and make it very difficult for these gangs to function.

“Any information about drug activity that is provided to us will always be investigated, and we kindly ask anyone who suspects drug activity is occurring nearby to get in touch with Cheshire Police.”
