A PERSON has sadly died in a tragic incident on the railway between Widnes and Warrington.
After the emergency on the rails yesterday evening, Sunday, the terrible news was verified this afternoon, Monday.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., paramedics from North West Ambulance Service, workers from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, and British Transport Police officers raced to the area of Hough Green station.
Regretfully, it has been verified that a man lost his life while travelling on the railway.
Services between Warrington Central and Liverpool South Parkway were suspended for several hours due to the emergency situation.
“Officers were called to the line near Hough Green railway station just after 6.15pm last night, Sunday, March 10,” a British Transport Police spokesman stated.
This happened after there were rumours of a casualty on the rails.
Tragically, a guy was declared dead at the site despite the fact that paramedics and the fire department also responded.
“A file is being prepared for the coroner, and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
The approximate age of the deceased was not confirmed by the force.
Emergency services were present, but the Northern, TransPennine Express, and East Midlands Railway trains were disrupted.
