Ismael has already extended his stay at Vicarage Road
Valerien Ismael, the manager of Watford, has renewed his agreement with the team.
Ismael took over as the team’s manager only this past summer, on what was reportedly a three-year contract.
The extension comes despite the fact that the Frenchman led the Hornets to just two victories in his first ten matches in command.
Head coach Valerien Ismael has received a new contract from Watford due to the uplifting environment and team’s growth.
Cristiano Giaretta, the Hornets’ sporting director, believes the club’s performance may now improve to move them higher on the Championship table.
How has Ismael performed thus far for Watford?
After a disappointing 11th-place finish in the Championship previous season, Ismael was only hired as Watford’s head coach in the summer.
The Frenchman, who had previously coached West Brom and Barnsley and helped them surprise to the play-offs in the 2020–21 season, returned to the second division of English football as a result.
When he first joined Watford, the 47-year-old reportedly signed a three-year deal that would keep him at Vicarage Road through the conclusion of the 2025–26 season.
Ismael has had a mixed start to his time as Watford’s manager on the field with just two victories, four draws, including a loss in a penalty shootout to League One team Stevenage in the first round of the League Cup, and four losses from ten games across all competitions.
As a result, Watford is only one point above the relegation zone and now holds the 20th spot in the Championship table.
Ismael’s contract at Vicarage Road has now been further extended by the club and Ismael despite this.
What conditions are included in Ismael’s new Watford contract?
Ismael has now extended his contract with Watford, according to a statement released by the club on Tuesday morning.
The parameters of the agreement have largely remained the same, according to that update, even if it now guarantees Ismael’s status as the team’s head coach for a longer length of time.
The renewal of that contract now appears to have been motivated more by on- and off-field accomplishments than by outcomes.
