Watford complete the Signing of five young stars

George Abbott, a Welsh Under-19 international defender who spent time on loan at Potters Bar before missing much of the second part of the season due to a broken ankle, will remain at Vicarage Road.

Former Perth Glory defender Aidan Coyne has also signed a new contract. Last season, the Australian was a regular on the bus for first-team away excursions, but he was an unused substitute for the away game against QPR in January.

Midfielder Zak Fraser-Grante, who joined Watford from Hampton and Richmond Borough last summer, has also signed a new contract. He spent last season’s international break at a Northern Ireland Under-19 training camp.

Laken Torres, the striker, has also signed a new deal. He joined Watford last summer from Chesterfield, where he had been named Academy Player of the Year.

Jake Watkiss, a former Stevenage scholar who went to Vicarage Road a year ago, completes the quintet of players who have been awarded new contracts.

The following Under-21 players will leave the club this summer: Hamzat Balogun, James Collins, Charlie Davis, Junior Gyamfi, Dawid Hamiga, Scott Holding, and Charlie Stallard.

Jack Grieves, Tobi Adeyemo, Myles Roberts, and Jonathan Macaulay all have contracts that extend beyond the summer.

Charlie Daniels will lead the Under-21s again next season, with the recently retired Dan Gosling serving as his assistant.

Meanwhile, second-year Under-18 scholars Roraigh Browne, Ignacio Garcia-Romero, Jonathan Lawson, Josh Mullins, Gabriel Ortelli, and Prince Sikiru have been offered professional contracts.

Ben Casey, Yianni Goulandris, Alfie King, Jack Taylor, and Victor Wachowicz are among the Under-18s who have completed their scholarships and will leave the club.

Former Watford Women head coach Matt Bevans will oversee the Under-18s next season, aided by Hornets icon Lloyd Doyley, who returns to Vicarage Road following four years on the coaching staff at Boreham Wood.
