Watford player finds himself in middle of drama as exit confirm

Ismaël Koné left Watford in June for what looked like a potential title battle with Marseille.

Watford was going to spend another season attempting to avoid the Championship, and Koné couldn’t pass up the chance to be a part of Marseille’s ambitious vision.

Roberto De Zerbi, who obviously wanted to compete against PSG for the league trophy, was one of the high-profile additions made by the French team. They are still in second place, six points behind PSG after one more game, so things aren’t too bad, but something seems to be going wrong.

After suffering a crushing 3-0 loss to PSG at home at the end of October, Marseille bounced back with a victory away at Nantes. They lost to Auxerre 3-1 at home yesterday night, so all of it was in vain.

Roberto De Zerbi declared after the game that he would leave without payment if the team believed he was the issue. His players were thrust into the center of a media circus by those remarks, which transformed a challenging circumstance into a complete drama.

When asked about it all after the game, Koné appeared surprised because he won’t have been used to this type of show when playing for Watford.
“You don’t want to do badly if you put on the jersey and go on the field,” Le Phoceen quotes him as saying. For this reason, I believe that we must work on ourselves as well as the field. This work must be both general and mental. I mean that. I know that these people desire to succeed since I train with them every day.

He responded, “No, on the contrary, I think it’s a huge source of pride,” when asked if playing at home has become an issue. We all want to represent, as I mentioned this jersey. After that, we need to figure out what’s bothering us at home. It’s not the coach, the concept of the game, or the stadium itself, in my opinion. Both individually and collectively, we are capable of producing it. We can challenge ourselves and take action, particularly at home. On the contrary, the stadium ought to strengthen us.

The players are now bearing the consequences of Roberto De Zerbi’s ability to further destabilize an already emotionally fragile team.
