Man dies after fatal incident at Watford building…

A man died after being hurt at a construction site in Watford today (January 24). The event occurred on Hagden Lane, and emergency services were summoned at 10.18 a.m. following reports of the incident.

Herts Police, the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST), and the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) responded to the incident. Despite emergency services’ best efforts, the victim, a 30-year-old man, died on the scene.

Police verified that the next of kin, as well as the Health and Executive, had been alerted. Hagden Lane was closed between Queens Avenue and Tolpits Lane as emergency personnel dealt with the problem.

Herts Police provided an updated statement about the incident. A spokesperson said: “Following today’s incident at Hagden Lane in Watford we can now confirm that sadly the man, aged in his 30s, passed away at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The Health and Safety Executive has also been notified.”

Herts Fire and Rescue Service previously said: “Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending an incident in Hagden Lane, Watford, where a wall has collapsed. Firefighters are working to make the scene safe.”
