Watford in talk with £240K attacker ahead of summer”

Watford are looking ahead to the summer transfer window to strengthen their squad and have identified a rising star in the Scottish Premiership, according to the latest reports.

The Hornets are currently experiencing a terrible run of play; in their previous ten games across all competitions, they have only won once, and that victory came against Rotherham United, who are currently at the bottom of the table, in mid-February.

Due to this difficult run of play, Valerien Ismael’s team is only six points above the relegation zone, forcing the club into an unwelcome relegation battle. TalkSPORT first reported two weeks ago that Watford intended to remove Ismael from his position after a 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town at home, but the Frenchman has since been retained in command.

A few intriguing transfer reports about the club’s intentions in advance of the summer market have also surfaced. According to Spanish reports, Barcelona is reportedly interested in signing Yaser Asprilla, a great winger with a current valuation of £43 million.

The Athletic has now revealed that Watford plans to sign Celtic youngster Rocco Vata in an attempt to bolster their roster. According to the site, despite the Bhoys’ offer of a new three-year contract, the Republic of Ireland U21 international’s contract expires in the summer, therefore the Hornets will have to compensate the Scottish champions £239,000.

Although the 18-year-old has just played three minutes in the league for Celtic’s first squad this season, clubs in Italy’s Serie B and the Championship team have expressed interest in signing him.

Vata is a fantastic young player who can score goals on his own and create opportunities for teammates. He has a devastating right-footed shot that has already defeated numerous goalkeepers. Vata can get into dangerous areas like a genuine wide striker.

For just £240,000, Watford would be receiving a treasure, but it’s probable that Celtic will exert every effort to retain the young wonder at the team before the end of the season, when his contract expires.
