Watford set to battle Brighton and Real Madrid in transfer race”

Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion are set to battle it out in the summer transfer window to try and sign one of ‘the great pearls of Spanish football’.

Both clubs are well known for their ability to identify hidden gems and polish them into brilliant diamonds. Since Todd Boehly acquired Chelsea, Brighton has utilised Chelsea as the biggest money machine in the world, selling all of their young, gifted players to Stamford Bridge for hundreds of millions of dollars in profit.

Watford is home to players such as Yaser Asprilla, a winger from Colombia’s Primera A who was previously unheard of but is currently being observed and liked by Barcelona.

Both teams are now focusing on La Liga, where there is a gem just waiting to be taken, in an attempt to rinse and repeat their profit-making process.

Watford want to sign Arnuncio, commonly known as Arnu, is reportedly being watched by Watford and Brighton, while Real Madrid is reportedly interested in the forward as well, according to Spanish journalist Jorge C. Picon.

Who is Adrian Arnuncio?

Despite his youth, the 16-year-old has made 14 appearances for Real Valladolid’s reserves team but has not yet played for the first team.

Because of his God-given speed and power, he is said to be a good fit for teams that attack quickly. It’s also reported that he walks comfortably on both feet. According to Picon, news of his exploits in his rookie campaign as a professional football player has apparently been distributed around the continent and has caught the interest of half of it.

Arnu now has a meagre €3 million release clause in his contract, but Valladolid has made him a new offer. According to Picon, this agreement would increase the 16-year-old’s pay and provide him the chance to potentially make the first squad. The striker is reportedly open to sticking with Valladolid and views his playing time as his top goal.

In summer 2025, his contract with the club comes to an end.

Adrian Arnuncio would be a big gamble for Watford

They won’t necessarily need to search the transfer market for further undiscovered treasures because of the interest in Asprilla. Should Barça make a move for him, they should be able to use the money they receive from the transaction to bolster the team. Using that money on Arnuncio wouldn’t be the smartest idea.

Simply put, the risk involved is too great. If the young forward chooses to stay with the team, Valladolid will demand more than €5 million (£4.3 million), and there are simply far better uses for their money.

Watford ought to be considering their options for returning to the Premier League given their current situation.

Asprilla was obviously a total unknown when he joined the team, but he has shown to be one of the team’s finest players this year, if not the best. However, the Hornets were only able to sign him for a fraction of that kind of money. Although it doesn’t appear like this manoeuvre is worth the risk, that was.
