Alan Pardew details board meeting

Alan Pardew has revealed he held a meeting with the West Brom board about his struggles getting the players to perform before he left.

The former manager of the Baggies was talking about the problems at Manchester United right now, with Erik Ten Hag being put under pressure, during a live talkSPORT broadcast on November 2, at 9:42 a.m.

And he admitted that during his time at West Brom he felt he wasn’t getting enough from individuals and after a meeting with the board he decided to leave.

“Are they really putting it in for me? You know is there something underlying here that they’ve lost faith in me or something like that,” he said. “I actually went to the board and said, ‘look I don’t think I’m getting enough out of these individual players and in the end we made a decision to leave. “I think he’s borderline crossing where it looks like he’s not getting the commitment and effort so desired from players. Having said that, in these League Cup games you’re making seven or eight changes and I always think you’re asking for trouble.”

On the pitch, we’re unquestionably moving in the right path right now, but off the pitch, the club has become worse and worse in recent years.

Our failure to return to the Premier League and our struggles to get the most out of individual players and the squad as a whole were caused by the inability of our previous managers, Steve Bruce and Valerien Ismael, to lead us to success.

However, since Carlos Corberan joined the team, we have witnessed an increase in on-field performances, with only one team winning more points in the Championship.

This is a result of the manager’s ability to maximise the players at his disposal in addition to bringing his own unique style of play. In this league, flexibility is crucial.

We’re on the rise, and as long as we manage to hold onto Corberan for the long haul, we’re sure that our progress as a team will continue.

Other West Brom news: on a particular occasion, an ex-midfielder speaks accolades for Corberan.
