Dan Plumley has insisted that a potential £35million takeover of West Brom would be a “brilliant deal” after it was confirmed that a switch of ownership was on the cards.
Brilliant takeover price emerges after West Brom twist a switch of ownership – Finance Expert
“I think if you could get West Brom for £35million and that’s the price that is maybe agreed, that’s a brilliant deal,” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“I think it’s probably a little bit higher in truth, I’ve often said at the minute, with the Championship position of the club and parachute payments running out, good infrastructure and fan base, a £50-75million valuation at the top end would be plausible.
“Of course, if you can get it for cheaper, you’re always going to take that opportunity. There are other things that come into play though, the nature of the club, the ownership structure, the fights he has had with the fan base and all the other things surrounding it.
“From a negotiating point of view, it would make sense to go down on your offer, so I think £50million would be a brilliant price, but if it’s £35million, I go back to that point on cheap asset prices for what football clubs are in relation to other things people invest in, that would be a decent price for West Brom.”
In other West Brom news, Plumley has also predicted that a change of ownership is needed at The Hawthorns
