Omari Hutchinson left in the dark by ‘mentally frustrating’ failed West Brom move ahead of meeting as Ipswich Town player

As he gets ready to play for Ipswich Town at The Hawthorns following the international break, the Chelsea youngster told The Athletic on November 16 that he was told to turn back while he was in the car on his way to the Baggies during the previous season’s winter window. He is unsure of the reason for the instruction.

The Athletic have previously revealed that Swansea’s decision to pursue Karlan Grant at the eleventh hour, despite tracking him for the entire month, contributed to the deal’s collapse. Meanwhile, Chelsea was intensely focused on signing Enzo Fernandez at the same time.

Hutchinson stated: “Everything broke down as I was driving up the motorway.” My brother and I were driving while I signed the documents using DocuSign on my phone. However, we were instructed to turn around not too long into the drive. I have no idea why. It wasn’t the greatest.

“I found it to be frustrating.” After that, I did my best to get myself in the right frame of mind for the under-21s, but I was depressed. It was annoying mentally. I had assumed that I would be competing in the Championship. However, everything has finally worked out, and I’m just happy to be in Ipswich.

Hutchinson was a letdown for Carlos Corberan once, and the Jamaican international is starting to make an impression at Portman Road for a team that hasn’t lost yet this season. This shows Hutchinson could have made a difference at The Hawthorns.

The West Brom manager, who wants to get his team back on track following a close loss to Southampton, will be hoping he doesn’t do so in the upcoming match.

With the Foxes coming up after Grant’s Cardiff City, and the club that is tied for top place with Leicester City coming to town, things won’t get any easier for the Baggies.

With 13 points clear of West Brom, Kieran McKenna’s team is setting records for a promoted team. Hutchinson has made 15 Championship appearances, scoring once and dishing out three assists.

It may be even more frustrating that Grant, a young player from Stamford Bridge, never made it to the Midlands over a year ago, given that he is currently not at The Hawthorns due to his summer loan to the opposing side of the South Wales rivalry.

When squads return from international duty, he will be aiming to show Corberan what he missed, and the Spaniard will be hopeful that some players, like Josh Maja and John Swift, will be back from injury in time for a heavyweight run of games.
