West Bromwich Albion Key Man Wanted By Rivals

The Clarets will play Championship football next season after being relegated from the Premier League. Despite this, Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich chose to remove Kompany from Turf Moor, leaving the club in search of a new head coach.

Burnley, one of the favourites to win promotion next season, will be hunting for the ideal guy to replace the departing Belgian. After a successful season in the West Midlands, Corberan is thought to be a viable possibility.

The Spaniard led the Baggies into the play-offs with a fifth-place finish. However, they were eliminated in the semi-finals by Southampton, who won 3-1 on aggregate.

Despite the off-field shenanigans, the season is usually regarded as a success. As a result, Corberan has begun to catch the attention of other potential suitors. Championship champions Leicester City are apparently interested, with current manager Enzo Maresca getting closer to a move to Chelsea.

Burnley appears to have also entered the race, with former Everton and Aston Villa manager Keith Wyness reporting that the Lancashire club is keeping an eye on the 41-year-old, while also divulging the fee that Bayern will pay for Kompany’s services:

“The number I’ve heard is around £10million, which is a very good compensation figure for Kompany,” he told Football Insider.

“Certainly, that deal has surprised a lot of people. It is a good payout, when combined with the parachute payment – Burnley should be very competitive.

They’ve had experience coming back, and I’d be astonished if they and Leeds aren’t bookmakers’ favourites.

“I’ve heard that Carlos Corberan is one of the prospective candidates. He came close in the playoffs with West Bromwich.

“I believe that with the resources Burnley has, employing him could be enough to propel them back into the Premier League.

“Burnley has the opportunity to go up, invest a little more, and remain up.

Corberan has established himself to be an astute manager, and it is no wonder that he is being pursued by other clubs. However, West Brom are ambitious, and their financial problems have improved since February’s acquisition. As a result, staying in the Hawthorns may be the best course of action.

The Spaniard excelled at Huddersfield Town before joining the Baggies, and he may have overachieved. Last year, he was awarded a new deal that will run until 2027. However, ambition could be the driving force in this situation. Burnley will be favourites for promotion, while Leicester will compete in the Premier League. This could affect any decision.
