Disappointed’ with Carlos Corberan decision at The Hawthorns*

Although he accepts the decision, West Brom custodian Alex Palmer says he was “disappointed” not to start the team’s most recent FA Cup match against Wolves.

Josh Griffiths was started in goal by Carlos Corberan on January 28, but the result was a disheartening 2-0 loss in the fourth round.

Given that Palmer had started all 29 of Albion’s games in the Championship this season, Griffiths’ chance to shine was quite unusual.

“I was disappointed because everyone wants to play in the big games,” Palmer stated in an interview with Sky Sports News on February 7 at 13:27 p.m.

“However, Josh is a fantastic goalie and a great guy, so I completely supported his decision and understood that he deserved to start the game.”

Most clean sheets in championships
Palmer has kept the most clean sheets of any custodian in the league while playing fantastically for West Brom this season.

In the unlikely event that Palmer gets hurt or suspended between now and the end of the campaign, Griffiths has at least played some recent minutes.

Palmer states that Griffiths is a capable custodian in his own right, therefore Corberan might need to use him once more in the future.

For the time being, let’s just hope that the indisputable top scorer stays healthy and adds more clean sheets to his record to assist West Brom in winning promotion.
