The Athletic reports that in 2024, Shilen Patel will give Guochuan Lai £5 million in exchange for taking over West Brom.
On Friday, February 23, the publication stated on its website that the American billionaire would only make a guaranteed payment of £10 million.
Breaking down the payment, The Athletic noted that Patel will pay Lai £2.5million upon completion, £2.5million in August this year, and £5.5million in August 2025.
After much anticipation, a takeover has finally occurred at The Hawthorns, and Patel’s presence is sure to please the fans.
Under Lai, things have been extremely difficult, and many fans have recently vented their annoyance at the Albion chief.
During the acquisition, The Athletic also disclosed the prospective bonus payments. Patel agreed to pay Lai a further £18 million should the team get promoted to the Premier League this season.
