West Brom anticipate Carlos Corberan blow as Burnley manager target ‘in talks’

Burnley are still searching for a new head coach following the departure of Vincent Kompany to Bayern Munich and Corberan, despite being happy at West Brom, cannot be ruled out.

The Clarets have been in advanced talks with ex-Netherlands international striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has been unemployed since leaving the managerial post at PSV Eindhoven at the end of the 2022/23 season. An update on that front could squander Burnley’s chances, however, meaning other targets may have to be considered instead.

Van Nistelrooy has reportedly been asked by his previous team, Manchester United, to join Erik ten Hag’s revamped coaching staff, according to reputable transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano. The 47-year-old is in charge of making the choice because Burnley is rumored to have already made an offer.

It is West Brom’s hope that van Nistelrooy chooses to accept the position at Turf Moor as opposed to Old Trafford. Last week, Belgian writer Sacha Tavolieri revealed that Corberan is one of three applicants for the Burnley position; the other two are van Nistelrooy and an unidentified candidate.
