West Brom reporter gives damning verdict on Sheffield Wednesday after last night’s defeat

Sheffield Wednesday suffered yet another defeat in the Championship last night, losing 1-0 away at West Brom.

Sheffield Wednesday took a sold out away following to The Hawthorns last night.

The fans continue to show up in their numbers despite the poor performances this season, with last night’s being yet another.

The scoreline perhaps flattered Sheffield Wednesday who were on the back foot all night, though it wasn’t their worst performance of the season so far.

But Birmingham Live reporter Joe Chapman, who covers West Brom, thinks this current Wednesday side were one of the worst he’s ever seen at The Hawthorns.

After last night’s game, he tweeted:

“Have seen a few Wednesday teams come to The Hawthorns down the years, and I’d say the current side were perhaps the poorest, but a word needs to go to the away fans. Thought they were very good.”West Bromwich Albion v Sheffield Wednesday - Sky Bet ChampionshipSheffield Wednesday in free fall…

It’s one thing for Sheffield Wednesday fans to say this is the poorest side they’ve seen in however long. But when opposition fans and even reporters are saying it, then it must be evident.

Sheffield Wednesday have had poor spells in the Championship before but this moment right now is hugely difficult for everyone involved.

Both on and off the pitch, the Owls are in crisis, and how they get out of this mess remains to be seen.

There needs to be some wholesale changes at the club, but when, or even if those changes come to light, is another question.

Up next for the Owls is a home game vs Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
